Sweet town that gladdens the heart, so recites Aredoro Ridicoli in a poetic song that unites generations of Valleronans. Vallerona embodies a sense of friendship, common identity and celebration for all those who at least once have walked past the church of St. Pius the first, dating back to 1641, through the alleyways of the village, from the park of Remembrance and ‘Il Razzo’, a water spring source and epicenter of the village.

Even throughout difficult times, the Pro Loco Association of Vallerona has over the decades succeeded in handing down the traditions and values of Vallerona while safeguarding its rich folkloristic and anthropological heritage. Such as the Palio delle Contrade, where the districts of Fonte, Giraffa, Selva and Fontina challenge each other in an amusing race through the streets of the town. As well as the unique cellars of the village, where good wine and beautiful songs still flow, thanks to the people of Vallerona who have preserved their original use.

This and much more distiguishes Vallerona, a rural Etruscan-Roman village built in the sixteenth century in the hills and the mild climate of the upper Maremma region. A peaceful town, whose inhabitants reflect its character and grace, and practice the art of gathering with consistency. Such as the sacred rite of the Focarazza every November 24^th, and the Dionysian summer nights of music and stargazing at the proverbial Tripe Festival.
